First day of sewing class and I think I did pretty well! Haha. I think I have a hidden talent for sewing, or at least a knack for it. I seem to enjoy sewing even if it's just following a straight line or a pattern. :)

back to school

First day of school began today! Well technically I only enrolled in 2 subjects since my course will be offered in September. I decided to enroll myself in pattern making and sewing which I think will benefit me even if I don't want to become a fashion designer. I can still make clothes for myself! ;)

Sunday was my first time to be a Godmother to my college friend's baby boy, Calix Ishmael. Coincidentally it was the feast of the church the ceremony was held in and so there were a lot of people that day!

Ever since I can remember, I associated being a Christian woman as someone meek, modest and simple. Probably like the Maria Clara of olden times. But as I look around me now, there are more and more people playing dress up. Fashion seems to have taken over the world and it has become an even bigger phenomenon than it ever was before.

Take for example, a normal girl from say 8-10 years ago. She would have most likely worn a skirt above the knee or a tank top with no cover up and considered it "daring". But now, the shorter the better, the quirkier the more applauded, and the weirder the more "normal". 

To clarify my point, I'm not discussing about the kinds of fashion that people wear nowadays but with how I feel, being a 21st century Christian woman and someone who loves fashion and dressing up. I admit, there are instances when I feel like I'm a "lesser" Christian simply 1.because I cannot conform myself to the norm of dressing "appropriate" and "normal" at times; 2.because I go gaga for pretty clothes and makeup; 3.because I'm a sucker for fashion.

But as of late, I think God has been trying to tell me something all along but it only took me just recently to figure out. It's okay to want to dress up, it's okay to like clothes, fashion and makeup, it's okay to want to look and feel pretty. I know many passionate Christian women who burn for God, but also have a bit of fashion and extracurriculars on the side. But at the end of the day, He wants to know that all these things do not invade the space in my heart. He wants to know that HE is still my number one priority. No matter how many clothes, shoes, bags or whatever I own, He wants to know that it's HIM I worship, and HIM alone.

So I'm embracing who I am and erasing the insecurity that pops into my brain every now and then.

How was your weekend? Me, I had a really good Sunday! I was again on one of those moods where I didn't really feel like dressing up but that was the outcome anyway. 

Haven't worn this dress in probably a year and a half and I was doubtful whether or not I could still fit in it since I bought it about 2 years ago. Surprise surprise, not much has apparently changed since the dress still fit perfectly and it even seemed a little loose. ;)

This is the first time I've worn this top out mainly because I though it was so formal for a normal day out and had no occasion to wear it to. But I finally caved and thought, what the hey, I'll wear it out.

Today was movie night with the family! We went to watch Snow White and the Huntsman. Honestly, what is up with all these movies/t.v. series about Snow White?? Once Upon A Time, Mirror Mirror, and now this! Is Snow White the most beloved character or something? Haha.

Anyway, the movie was okay. It was a bit dragging at the beginning and the ending wasn't all that great but at least they injected a little humor to it. What I didn't get was who Snow's "true love" was. Was it the huntsman or William? Anybody care to enlighten me on that? :)

Took some pictures outside in our little garden (now I can proudly say that it's a garden haha). Haven't worn this maxi skirt in a while and I thought it complimented the "chill" vibe I had going.

Managed to squeeze in a little outfit shoot yesterday when I was out with my sister. This was taken at the CAFA building and it was probably the 2nd time I set foot there. In all my 4 years of college I've never roamed around the halls (or hills) of the campus in Talamban and I guess in a way it was a new experience for me. :)

Here are some pictures of a great Sunday spent with friends :) 

We were supposed to go island hopping on Sunday but it got cancelled because of the storm. Meanwhile my family and I went to Shangri-la over the weekend and yes, the winds were so strong and it was high tide at the beach! So definitely a no-no. Since we didn't want to waste our plans, we headed over to Sheryl's house for some Shabu-shabu style dinner and a lot of fun and games!

Today was probably ONE OF THE BEST DAYS EVER! :D I got to meet Joe Jonas - the Jonas brother I absolutely LOVE among the 3! I was so glad my friend Sheryl told me about this event about 2 weeks ago and I have been calling non-stop asking when the tickets would be released! Lucky me, I got to get tickets AND a meet and greet!!!!! 

New York, New York!

They say that New York is the best city in the world, the best place to live. Somehow during my recent trip to New York, I have not yet quite agreed completely to this statement. Blame it on lack of time, we were only there for 5 full days and we were in Times Square and 54th to 42nd street the whole time. I admit, it is a shoppers heaven! From Macy's to Bergdorf Goodman to Saks Fifth Ave., the choices are endless! With all the tiny boutiques just lined up along the street, the first thing to go would be your cash.

Hey everyone! I just got back from my 3 week vacation abroad and I must say, it was definitely one of the best summers ever! :D This entry might get a little too long, so bear with me! I will try my best to show you everything that I enjoyed from my vacation in as little words and pictures as possible! Enjoy :)

We went to Toronto to visit relatives and coincidentally I also had friends who lived there! We went to Niagara, drank ice wine, saw a shoot for Canada's Next Top Model, and indulged in all the ice cream, cakes and food Toronto has to offer!

My sister graduated from high school today! Hooray! It was nice to be back in my alma mater, I almost forgot what it felt like to be in high school, dreading college and getting all emotional. (although I didn't cry during my high school graduation though.lol)

Celebrated Auddy's birthday yesterday! It was one of those rare moments where almost everyone was in attendance! Hooray :) Sheryl and I got Auddy "the best gift ever" which were Katy Perry t-shirts. His smile reached waaay beyond his ears ;)

Today's look - purple and yellow! Haha. Sorry, I can't think of a more clever title right now. I'm so tired, just got home a little while ago from the movies. We watched The Muppets. I know, a little too kiddie but I liked it. There's nothing wrong with watching kiddie movies, they make me feel good about the world and about myself. I know we all need a little cheering up every now and then. 

Anyway, decided to take photos in the living room. Made breakfast this morning and so I didn't have much time to do my hair. I've always thought of my hair as a blessing and a curse. Haha. I like it because it's super straight and everyone always asks if I've had it rebonded or something, but I never have. I only dye my hair and give it some hot oil treatment once in a while. But the down-side to having super straight hair is that it goes limp and lifeless. It doesn't really have volume and body, so if I want it to be layered/wavy, I have to work for it with a blow dryer. And most of the time, I don't have the time to do that so I end up letting it be and it's flat when it's wet. What to do?
