Prom: The Dream

In just a few weeks, Christmas will be here and I’m really excited about all the gifts and all the eating!! But aside from that, I’m much more excited about Prom season! Aren’t you?

I remember my first prom. I was a senior in high school and a guy from another school invited me to be his date. We didn’t have prom at my school (which totally sucks because I really really love prom!) so I was ecstatic when someone gave me that chance. I was actually invited to 2 proms but they were just within a span of about a week from each other so I ended up wearing the same dress.

Isn’t it annoying when you can’t seem to find the perfect dress? You search from store to store, but it’s either they don’t have the color you want or they have it in a different design, different length. Sure, you can have your dresses made by your local designer but it’s also a hit or miss. There was one time I had a gown made for my graduation ball and it was so bad. It was too simple and pointy in all the wrong places. I hate it when they just can’t seem to get your dress right.

I decided to do a 4-week series and countdown for Prom, which happens in February-March here in the Philippines. With my succeeding blog posts I’ll be giving you ideas and tips to finding the perfect gown. With just two more months to go, have you bought your prom dress yet?

I recently found a website that sells a wide assortment of Prom dresses! It’s called PickeDresses. Browsing through their site I wish I had these choices when I was younger! Then I wouldn’t have any problem about repeating the same dress twice!

Here are a few of my favorites that I think every kind of girl would relate to:

1. The Star a.k.a. Miss Popular – I think Miss Popular would go with either a short or long gown, but always sexy and always in the latest style. The point is to show off those toned arms and legs right? So a sexy sweetheart neckline dress would be perfect. Wear it with a trail, or as a mullet dress, or a sexy mini dress. Either way, you can’t go wrong!

2. The Sweet and Shy Type a.k.a. Miss Conservative – little miss conservative doesn’t want to show too much skin, but still wants to be stylish at the same time. I think the rule is to only reveal one part of your body. So if you want to show off your legs then your top should be a bit covered and vice versa. Off-shoulder sleeves and one-shoulder sleeves are my best bet to being conservative but sexy, and stylish at the same time.

3. The Princess – Prom would never be complete without a few girls out there dreaming of becoming princesses, would it? The best way to achieve the full Disney Princess effect is with a full ball gown with lots and lots of tulle and fabric that you can twirl around with!
