ignorance is annoying

i hate how ignorant people are when it comes to fashion - labeling looks as weird or strange when it is so far from it.

as you can see, this mini rant is coming from today's look and the reaction i got. most of the time when i try something new or try a more edgier look, it receives criticisms. like, seriously. this is not the 80's anymore. being simple is overrated.

Resurrected

This is kind of a late post but Happy Easter everyone! :)

So I was finally baptized as a Born-again Christian on Easter Sunday and I cannot tell you all how great I feel! I woke up super early (6:30am!) to be in time for the ceremony. When we arrived at the church it was raining and the rain got stronger and I was afraid the rain wasn't going to stop. But by God's grace, the rain stopped JUST as we were going to start! And what was more, the sun SHONE BRIGHTLY after I received my first communion. Indeed, God is truly amazing! Everything worked out according to His plan and I am just so grateful that even my family and friends were there to support me. It really meant a lot to me that even the Young Pro Fellowship members came to watch my baptism. I was so touched :)

you keep me on my toes

After 2 whole days of doing nothing, I was looking forward to dressing up! :) And I got kinda bored with my hair lately so I decided to curl it. I forgot how much I liked having curly hair!

It's crazy how a person can keep you on your toes, like literally on your toes - giving you that extra pump of adrenaline and making you feel something that may or may not be there. I like it when that happens, makes me feel confident. ;)

putting the holy in holy week

For the past 2 days, i have been at home bumming around, playing computer games, watching tv series and reading magazines. I owned my time. I didn't have anything to do, no place to be, and certainly no work to do. But I was doing things for myself, I made this week into "me" time instead of His time.

Today I met up with the Pastor who was going to baptize me tomorrow. After years of no's, it was finally time for a yes. I find it really significant that I will be baptized on Easter Sunday, exactly the day when Jesus was resurrected from the dead. After all, "...to live is Christ and to die is gain."

I think that everything worked out perfectly after all. In God's perfect timing He made all this possible! I am really excited and nervous at the same time. Excited that finally, I will be able to let the whole world know that I am a Christian, born-again and saved by grace through faith. Nervous because I do not know what to expect, nervous because I will again become a new person - someone who should mimic Christ Jesus.

I had a really meaningful afternoon and I believe that I will take all that I learned and I will carry it around with me everyday. I promise to be more devoted to Christ and to be more serious. I promise to cut off ties with my old ways and look forward to the future and what lies ahead, how short the time may be.

wear red, wear hope

So this is my version for Chictopia's "Wear Red Wear Hope" campaign for Japan.

I made friends with a few Japanese students while I was studying in China so when I heard the news about the tsunami and earthquakes, I immediately messaged them to see how they were doing. Luckily they were not affected as much, but I cannot say the same for the rest :(

we on the road

Road trip with the fam to Dumaguete, a city in Visayas located in Negros Oriental (?) which is about 3-4 hours away from Cebu by car and ferry :)

It was a tiring day but it was also fun in a way. But most of the time was spent inside the car. It was a loooong drive I tell you. I felt claustrophobic by the time night came around.

that old, old feeling

My dad gave away our toy poodle last Sunday to his friend since we get too busy to play with her already :( But I hear that she's happy and doing well in her new home :)

I have found the perfect spot to take pictures, which is outside in our little "garden" area. I like it because at least it gives the desired natural light. :)

So excited for Hong Kong tomorrow! I will be on a short hiatus then but I promise you, when I get back, you will see some fabulous looks from me ;)

what about tomorrow?

Today was probably the most meaningful and emotional church service i've ever had. I have been a Christian for about 10 years now, since I was 12 years old. I remember it clearly, January 25, 2001 - I had accepted Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior. I was active after that, I guess all through out high school. I joined fellowship every week and I was really on fire for the Lord. When college rolled around, I got busier and friends drifted apart, and pretty soon I wasn't at fellowships anymore. But when college started, that was the time I went to church regularly.

Now how many years later, I am ready to take that final leap - to be baptized as a Christian. (on easter sunday) I feel really excited about this new chapter in my life, but I can't help but notice that there are still so many things left unsaid. There are so many emotions that have been pent up inside of me, and today they suddenly came out. I did not intend for it to happen, but I cried. For the life of me, I do not know the reason why. I was embarrassed, mind you, because one minute I was talking to the Pastor and the next thing I knew I was bawling in front of him. So many questions unanswered, but I hope will be answered somehow.

lash perm

yesterday i had my lashes permed with my bestfriend! i was a bit hesitant at first because i was scared of the procedure and the outcome. i had so many questions! was it harmful (no), did it have side-effects (no), did anyone complain about the procedure (no) and etc. finally i took the leap! haha. i think perming is better than having extensions since it doesn't really harm the lashes? although the effect is a lot different since the length of your lashes actually depends on how long your real lashes are.

anyhoo, the procedure took about an hour and a half, good thing i had someone to talk to while waiting. the process is actually pretty simple. first they put a sort of bandage on your eyelids then pull your lashes one by one until they get a good form, then they put some sort of medicine and cover it with plastic and let it dry for a couple of minutes. then they repeat it once more and then you're done! i wish i could show you a before and after photo but all i have is the before. haha :)

before. waiting :)
